About Us

Learn about our story, mission, and the team behind Sanctuary Haven.

Our Story

Sanctuary Haven was founded in 2024 by Nagginda Maisoon, inspired by the healthcare disparities affecting children in Uganda and beyond. What began as a small initiative has grown into a movement of young changemakers dedicated to transforming pediatric healthcare across Africa.

Our unique model empowers youth to lead healthcare initiatives, combining their energy and innovation with guidance from medical professionals to create sustainable impact. We believe that young people are not just the leaders of tomorrow but the changemakers of today.

Today, Sanctuary Haven operates in several countries, including Uganda, Ethiopia, Côte d’Ivoire, Nigeria, and Kenya, expanding our reach and impact across the continent.

Over the years, we've maintained our grassroots approach while expanding our reach, always staying true to our core values of compassion, innovation, and sustainable impact.

Mayambala

Outreaches

Sanctuary Haven outreaches bring hope, care, and essential support to children in need across Uganda. By engaging directly with communities, we aim to address both immediate needs and long-term challenges, ensuring that every child feels valued, supported, and empowered to thrive despite difficult circumstances.

Through community visits, health initiatives, and educational programs, we strive to make a tangible difference in young lives, one outreach at a time. Our programs reach communities such as Kawempe Home Care, Mayambala Orphanage, and other centers where children need care and support.

We believe prevention is just as important as treatment. Our health education programs teach children and families about nutrition, hygiene, and disease prevention.

Using interactive, culturally appropriate methods, we empower communities with knowledge that leads to healthier choices and lasting behavior change.

Clean Water Initiative

Access to clean water is a fundamental right and a critical component of health. We plan to install water purification systems in communities without reliable access to safe drinking water.

Each installation includes training on maintenance and hygiene practices to ensure the long-term sustainability of the project.

At Mayambala Orphanage

We partnered with Mai-Moja to spread happiness and hope among children, because we believe joy is also a part of healing. At Mayambala Orphanage, Sanctuary Haven’s work combines emotional support with health-centered initiatives, ensuring that children not only smile today but also build healthier tomorrows.

At Sanctuary Haven, we spend joyful moments playing with the children — from sack races to chair dances — reminding them that they have a right to laughter, happiness, and endless smiles.

A day of joy, laughter, and love at Kawempe Home Care, where Sanctuary Haven volunteers brightened the lives of children bravely battling cancer. From creating vision boards for 2025 to donating essentials, the air was filled with hope, smiles, and unforgettable moments.
